TJ Stecker

Growing up in North Carolina, TJ developed a love for the southeast. Nothing beats Autumn with falling leaves, barbecue, and bluegrass. But, TJ left North Carolina after highschool to attend Florida State University where he majored in jazz trumpet - yes, you can major in that. From there, he went back home to North Carolina for a bit to earn his MBA at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. While there, he worked in Minor League Baseball for the Burlington Indians - now known as the Burlington Sock Puppets.

After grad school, and his foray into minor league baseball, TJ left for the Navy where he became a Naval Flight Officer on the P-3C Orion. He had a minor setback when TJ lost his leg in a boating accident, but he perservered to become the first amputee to earn his Naval Aviation Wings.

The Navy allowed him to travel the world and moved him to Hawaii. From there he deployed around Europe and Africa. After his all-expense paid travels, he was sent to navigate D.C.

While stationed at the Pentagon, TJ used all of his "free time" to earn a Law degree at night at the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. While continuing night-school, he retired from the Navy and jumped right into a legal career. Well, sort of. First he started as a Law Clerk in the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.

TJ left the Senate and went back into the Navy, on the civilian side, as a procurment attorney. After a rousing stint as a lawyer at the Washington Navy Yard, TJ moved with his wife and two daughters to Estonia. While he didn't know what to expect from the Baltic country, he has found it an amazing place and has enjoyed working at the U.S. Embassy.

TJ's myriad experiences have all influenced his writing and his varied career path is great fodder for many past, present, and future novels. You never know what to expect!
